15 December 2007, Taipei

The College had its historic inaugural convocation on 15 December 2007 during the 16th Asian Pacific Congress of Cardiology held at the Taipei International Convention Center in a solemn and resplendent ceremony. Trustees, Office holders and Fellows wore their ceremonial robes as they marched in during the academic procession. It was indeed a most memorable occasion.

CAPSC is pleased to welcome the top cardiologists from well known institutions throughout Asia, Australia and USA who were convocated as Fellows of the College. The ceremony also saw three new trustees joining the college’s Board of Trustees. About 80 of the close to 200 newly elected fellows took time off from their busy schedule to be in Taipei to receive their certificates. Honourable Presidents and Representatives of Societies from around the Asian Pacific region, Europe and USA were invited to witness this event.

The three new trustees, Dr Hu Dayi from China, Dr Noohi Feridoun from Iran and Dr Sim Kui Hian from Malaysia recited their oaths, led by incumbent trustee, Dr Noe Babilonia from Philippines. Dr Michael Lim, Dean of CAPSC presented them with their certificates of appointment and welcomed them on board.

The newly elected fellows took their oaths together under the lead of Vice Dean, Dr Anil Kumar, pledging to dedicate their best efforts towards promoting and advancing cardiovascular medicine. After which, one by one, they stepped up on stage to proudly receive their fellowship certificate from Dr Michael Lim.

The ceremony concluded with rousing music by the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University’s Military Band. It was a ceremony befitting the high stature and prestige of these leading cardiologists and cardiac surgeons who have become the pioneering fellows of the College.
