Dear Fellows
My heartiest congratulations for being part of the historic inaugural convocation of Fellows of the College of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (CAPSC)!
This is a historic milestone that opens a new chapter in the development of cardiovascular medicine in the Asia Pacific region. The college was conceptualised six years ago to encourage cardiovascular professionals to promote quality cardiovascular care through education, training, research, accreditation and application of clinical guidelines in the Asia Pacific region.
We are delighted to say that apart from eminent cardiologists in this region, we also have applications from outside of Asia. This is in recognition of the standing of the College and also the standing of the Fellows in the international community. The College belongs to all Fellows and aims to provide Fellows a firm foundation and platform to participate in international meetings and committees. We aim to work with other cardiology organisations such as the World Heart Federation, American College of Cardiology (ACC), European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and American Heart Association (AHA).
CAPSC will be an important growth engine as it will work with Fellows and institutions in the Asia Pacific region to grow in size and stature. Our aim is for CAPSC in 5 years to grow to the size of ESC and ACC.
As we develop international expert committees, core laboratories for research, training institutions and joint collaboration with other international cardiology organisations, there will be opportunities for fellows who are passionate and driven to participate actively at the global stage.
We welcome feedback and comments from fellows as we grow the organization together. I look forward to working with all of you in our mission to be the catalysts for growth and development in cardiovascular medicine.
Warmest Regards
Michael Lim
Dean, College of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology
